DAY 445: Rum 19-27

•  He brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living. And He gives life to the earth after its death. And so will you be brought forth ˹from the grave˺. One of His signs is that He created you from dust, then—behold!—you are human beings spreading over ˹the earth˺. And one of His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find comfort in them. And He has placed between you compassion and mercy. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect. And one of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colours. Surely in this are signs for those of ˹sound˺ knowledge. And one of His signs is your sleep by night and by day ˹for rest˺ as well as your seeking His bounty ˹in both˺. Surely in this are signs for people who listen. And one of His signs is that He shows you lightning, inspiring ˹you with˺ hope and fear. And He sends down rain from the sky, reviving the earth after its death. Surely in this are signs for people who understand. And one of His signs is that the heavens and the earth persist by His command. Then when He calls you out of the earth just once, you will instantly come forth. And to Him belong all those in the heavens and the earth—all are subject to His Will. And He is the One Who originates the creation then will resurrect it—which is even easier for Him. To Him belong the finest attributes in the heavens and the earth. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise.

  This section serves as a powerful, tangible, and cosmic argument for the core themes introduced earlier: the power of Allah over life, death, and resurrection. If verses 11-18 established the principle that Allah "begins creation and then repeats it," verses 19-27 provide the evidence—drawing from observable natural phenomena, human experience, and the structure of the universe—to prove that this principle is not only true but is happening all around us, all the time.
  Verse 19 establishes the central pattern: Allah brings the living from the dead and the dead from the living (a seed becoming a plant, a chicken from an egg) and revives the dead earth with rain—proving that resurrection is not an exception but a constant reality.
  Verses 20-21 point to human origins and relationships: creation from dust into diverse humanity is a sign, and so is the creation of spouses, with the divine gifts of tranquility, affection, and mercy—clear evidence for those who reflect.
  Verse 22 highlights diversity as design: the vastness of the heavens and earth alongside the diversity of languages and skin colors are deliberate signs for those who possess knowledge.
  Verse 23 points to daily rhythms: sleep (a daily "death" and "resurrection") and the pursuit of livelihood are signs for those who listen attentively.
  Verse 24 uses lightning and rain: lightning brings fear and hope, followed by rain reviving dead land—a logical sign for those who use reason.
  Verse 25 affirms cosmic order: the heavens and earth stand by Allah's command, and just as easily, a single call will bring all forth from the graves.
  Verses 26-27 deliver the conclusion: all creation belongs to Allah and submits to Him; He begins creation and repeats it—which is, from a human perspective, even easier—and to Him belongs the highest perfection, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
  
  From the daily revival of dead earth to the creation of spouses and the order of the cosmos, verses 19-27 present a relentless accumulation of observable signs proving that the One who originates creation can effortlessly repeat it in resurrection.
