DAY 439: Naziat 15-26

•  Has the story of Moses reached you ? His Lord called him in the sacred valley of Ṭuwa, ˹commanding,˺ “Go to Pharaoh, for he has truly transgressed ˹all bounds˺. And say, ‘Would you ˹be willing to˺ purify yourself, and let me guide you to your Lord so that you will be in awe ˹of Him˺?’” Then Moses showed him the great sign, but he denied and disobeyed ˹Allah˺, then turned his back, striving ˹against the truth˺. Then he summoned ˹his people˺ and called out, saying, “I am your lord, the most high!” So Allah overtook him, making him an example in this life and the next. Surely in this is a lesson for whoever stands in awe of ˹Allah˺.

  If the first section of the surah (verses 1-14) was a cosmic argument for the Resurrection—using the order of the universe and the suddenness of the final Trumpet—this second section shifts to a historical argument. Allah directs the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to cite the most powerful example of divine punishment and redemption known to the Arabs: the story of Prophet Musa (Moses) and Pharaoh.
  This section serves as a warning: if you doubt the Resurrection and the Day of Accountability, look at what happened to the greatest tyrant of the past when he rejected the signs of his Lord.
  
      Resurrection is Possible: If God had the power to destroy the mighty Pharaoh and his army in an instant, and if He has the power to preserve the story as a lesson for millennia, then He certainly has the power to resurrect decayed bones.
      Accountability is Real: Pharaoh was held accountable for his transgression in this life (drowning) and will be held accountable in the next. This refutes the earlier mockers (verse 12) who called the Resurrection a "losing return."
      The Pattern of History: The story establishes a divine precedent. Just as Pharaoh rejected the "greatest sign" (verse 20) and faced punishment, so too will the disbelievers of Mecca face the "single shout" (verse 13) of the Day of Judgment if they continue to reject the message of Muhammad (peace be upon him). 
  
      The story of Moses and Pharaoh serves as a historical proof that the same God who seized the mightiest tyrant with a comprehensive punishment is certainly able to resurrect the dead and hold all accountable.
