DAY 524: Ali 'Imran 181-189

•  Indeed, Allah has heard those ˹among the Jews˺ who said, “Allah is poor; we are rich!” We have certainly recorded their slurs and their killing of prophets unjustly. Then We will say, “Taste the torment of burning! This is ˹the reward˺ for what your hands have done. And Allah is never unjust to ˹His˺ creation.” Those ˹are the same people˺ who say, “Allah has commanded us not to believe in any messenger unless he brings us an offering to be consumed by fire ˹from the sky˺.” Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Other prophets did in fact come to you before me with clear proofs and ˹even˺ what you demanded—why then did you kill them, if what you say is true?” If you are rejected by them, so too were messengers before you who came with clear proofs, divine Books, and enlightening Scriptures. Every soul will taste death. And you will only receive your full reward on the Day of Judgment. Whoever is spared from the Fire and is admitted into Paradise will ˹indeed˺ triumph, whereas the life of this world is no more than the delusion of enjoyment. You ˹believers˺ will surely be tested in your wealth and yourselves, and you will certainly hear many hurtful words from those who were given the Scripture before you and ˹from˺ the polytheists. But if you are patient and mindful ˹of Allah˺—surely this is a resolve to aspire to. When Allah took a pledge from those who were given the Book: “You shall make it known to people, and you shall not conceal it,” they threw it away behind their backs, and acquired a small price for it. So, evil is what they acquire. Do not think of those who are delighted with what they did, and love to be praised for what they never did - do not think they are secure from the punishment. For them there is a painful punishment. To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And Allah is Most Capable of everything.

  This passage is a sharp, climactic conclusion to the long discourse on the People of the Book and the hypocrites. It addresses their mockery of God, their claim of killing prophets, the reality of death for all, the test of wealth and security, and ends with a sweeping declaration of God's power and wisdom over all creation. It's a passage of divine justice, accountability, and ultimate consolation for the believers.
  Verses 181-182: The Mockers and Their Fate
  God heard those who mocked, "Allah is poor, we are rich." Their words and their killing of prophets are recorded. They'll be told: "Taste the burning Fire"—the earnings of their own hands. God wrongs no one.
  Verses 183-184: The Excuse and the Killers of Prophets
  They claimed a covenant not to believe unless a sacrifice is consumed by fire. Yet messengers brought exactly that—and they killed them. If they deny you, past messengers with clear proofs and scriptures were denied too.
  Verses 185-186: Death, Delusion, and the Test
  Every soul tastes death. Full reward comes on Judgment Day. Escaping Fire and entering Paradise is true success. Worldly life is delusion. You'll be tested in wealth and lives, and hear much abuse—so be patient and fear God. That's true resolve.
  Verses 187-188: The Broken Covenant of the Scholars
  God took a covenant from those given scripture to explain it clearly, not hide it. They threw it away for a small price—a wretched trade. Those who celebrate their misdeeds and love undeserved praise won't escape painful punishment.
  Verse 189: The Final Declaration
  To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah is over all things competent.
  
  God hears every mockery, records every murdered prophet, and exposes every broken covenant—death and testing come for all, worldly life is delusion, escaping Fire into Paradise is the only true success, and those who hide truth while craving praise will not escape, for the dominion of everything belongs to God alone.
