DAY 342: Shura 1-12

  •  Ḥâ-Mĩm. ’Aĩn-Sĩn-Qãf. This is how Allah, the Mighty, the Wise, sends revelation to you and to those who were before you. To him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and He is the High, the Supreme. The heavens almost burst apart from their above side, and angels proclaim the purity and praise of their Lord, and pray for forgiveness of those on the earth. Be aware that Allah is the Most-Forgiving, the Very-Merciful. As for those who take other protectors besides Him, Allah is Watchful over them. And you ˹O Prophet˺ are not a keeper over them. And so We have revealed to you a Quran in Arabic, so you may warn the Mother of Cities and everyone around it, and warn of the Day of Gathering—about which there is no doubt—˹when˺ a group will be in Paradise and another in the Blaze. Had Allah willed, He could have easily made all ˹humanity˺ into a single community ˹of believers˺. But He admits into His mercy whoever He wills. And the wrongdoers will have no protector or helper. How can they take protectors besides Him? Allah alone is the Protector. He ˹alone˺ gives life to the dead. And He ˹alone˺ is Most Capable of everything. And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allāh. [Say], "That is Allāh, my Lord; upon Him I have relied, and to Him I turn back." He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs from the cattle. He makes you expand in this way. Nothing is like Him. And He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He extends provision for whomsoever He wills, and straitens (it for whomsoever He wills). Surely He is All-Knowing in respect of every thing.

Divine Origin of Revelation: Emphasized through the mysterious letters and the statement of revelation.
Allah's Absolute Attributes: Sovereignty, Wisdom, Power, Transcendence ("nothing like unto Him"), while also being Hearing, Seeing, Forgiving, and Merciful.
        The Reality of the Hereafter:
The central warning is about the inevitable Day of Judgment and its two outcomes.
        The Prophet's Role:
He is a warner, not a controller. His duty is to convey the clear Arabic message.
        Rejection of Polytheism:
A direct critique of taking protectors besides Allah, who is the only true Guardian and Arbitrator.
        Allah's Control over Destiny:
He could have made all people believe, but He allows for free will and difference as a test. He alone controls all provisions and outcomes.

These opening verses of Surah Ash-Shura establish the core Islamic creed: Allah, the utterly unique and sovereign Creator who reveals guidance, is the only true protector, and all matters must ultimately be referred to His judgment, which culminates in an inevitable Day of Assembly.

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. His light is like a niche in which there is a lamp, the lamp is in a crystal, the crystal ...
