DAY 151: A'raf 171-174

•  And [did We not say,] when We caused Mount Sinai to quake above the children of Israel as though it were a [mere] shadow, and they thought that it would fall upon them, "Hold firmly to that ˹Scripture˺ which We have given you and observe its teachings so perhaps you might remain conscious of God". And ˹remember˺ when your Lord brought forth from the loins of the children of Adam their descendants and had them testify regarding themselves. ˹Allah asked,˺ “Am I not your Lord?” They replied, “Yes, You are! We testify.” ˹He cautioned,˺ “Now you have no right to say on Judgment Day, ‘We were not aware of this.’ Nor say, ‘It was our forefathers who had associated others ˹with Allah in worship˺ and we, as their descendants, followed in their footsteps. Will you then destroy us for the falsehood they invented?’” This is how We make our signs clear, so perhaps they will return ˹to the Right Path˺.

   The Israelites’ Special Covenant:
      Allah imposed a nation-specific covenant on the Israelites at Mount Sinai (symbolized by the mountain’s shaking/suspension) to:   Force them to take divine law seriously (Torah).    Warn them: Disobedience = collapse (like the mountain looming over them).
      They failed repeatedly (e.g., golden calf, Sabbath-breaking).
  The Universal Human Covenant:
      Before birth, every human soul—including the Israelites—already testified to Allah’s Lordship ("  أَلَسْتَ بِرَبِّكُمْ " / "Am I not your Lord?").
          "Your failure isn’t because you ‘didn’t know’—your souls already acknowledged Me!   Even the Israelites’ ancestors (like Adam, Noah) knew this truth. You have no excuse."
   No Excuses for Disobedience:
          The Israelites’ failure despite miracles + our failure despite fitrah shows:    Knowledge alone isn’t enough—we must choose to submit.
  Allah’s Mercy is Universal:
              Even if your parents/community stray, you’re accountable but not doomed—return to your fitrah.
  The Qur’an’s Warning:
          Surah Al-A’raf exposes:   Religious hypocrisy (claiming faith while ignoring covenants).   Cultural religiosity (blindly following ancestors like the Israelites did).
                
              Allah gave the Israelites a tangible covenant at Sinai—and they broke it—but He reminds them (and us) that every soul already acknowledged Him before birth, making rebellion a choice, not an accident
