DAY 8: Qalam 10-13

•  And do not obey the one who swears much and is a liar or is worthless, a defamer, circulating slander, hindering (all) good , (to anyone) who is sinful, aggressive, violent (and cruel) , and in addition to all that, morally corrupt imposter.

  Universal Lessons for All Believers:
  
      Do Not Follow the Ways of the Wrongdoers (Verse 10):
  
          The command to "not obey every worthless habitual swearer" is a warning for all believers to avoid emulating or being influenced by people who are morally corrupt, deceitful, or manipulative.
  
          In today’s world, this could apply to individuals who use lies, false promises, or empty rhetoric to mislead others, whether in personal relationships, politics, or media.
  
          Believers are reminded to stay true to their values and not compromise their principles, even when faced with pressure or temptation.
  
      Avoid Gossip, Slander, and Mockery (Verse 11):
  
          The traits of being a "scorner" (هَمَّازٍ) and "one who spreads malicious gossip" (مَّشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ) are condemned. These behaviors are destructive to communities and relationships.
  
          For believers, this is a reminder to avoid backbiting, gossip, and mocking others. Instead, they should strive to build unity, speak kindly, and uphold the dignity of others.
  
          In the age of social media, where gossip and slander can spread rapidly, this lesson is especially relevant.
  
      Do Not Prevent Good or Transgress Limits (Verse 12):
  
          The description of "a preventer of good, transgressing, and sinful" applies to anyone who actively opposes good deeds, justice, or kindness.
  
          Believers are encouraged to promote good and stand against oppression and injustice. They should not be among those who hinder progress or harm others.
  
          This also serves as a reminder to avoid extremism or going beyond the limits set by Allah in any aspect of life.
  
      Reject Cruelty and Arrogance (Verse 13):
  
          The traits of being "cruel" (عُتُلٍّ) and "an illegitimate pretender" (زَنِيمٍ) highlight the dangers of arrogance, harshness, and false pride.
  
          Believers are called to embody humility, compassion, and sincerity, avoiding any form of cruelty or superiority complex.
  
          This is particularly important in interactions with others, whether in family, community, or society at large.
  
  Practical Application for Believers Today:
  
     -- Guard Your Character:
  
          These verses remind believers to constantly evaluate their own behavior and ensure they are not falling into the negative traits described (e.g., gossip, arrogance, preventing good).
  
          Strive to embody the opposite of these traits: honesty, kindness, humility, and a commitment to doing good.
  
     -- Choose Your Company Wisely:
  
          The Quran repeatedly emphasizes the importance of surrounding oneself with righteous people. Believers should avoid close association with those who exhibit the negative traits mentioned in these verses.
  
          As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "A person is upon the religion of their close friend, so let one of you look at whom they befriend." (Sunan Abi Dawud)
  
      -- Stand Firm Against Falsehood:
  
          In a world filled with misinformation, manipulation, and moral decay, believers must stand firm in their faith and values.
  
          Do not compromise the truth for the sake of pleasing others or gaining temporary worldly benefits.
  
      -- Promote Good and Prevent Evil:
  
          Believers have a responsibility to actively promote good deeds, justice, and kindness in their communities.
  
          At the same time, they should work to prevent harm, oppression, and corruption, even if it means standing against popular opinion.
