DAY 31: Muddathir 38-47

•  Every person is held in pledge for what he earns (through his deeds), except the people of the right (the people of happiness and prosperity who receive their records in their right hands. God will forgive them and reward them with much more than they earned) who will be in Gardens, asking one another; about the disbelieving criminals, (and convey the answers they give): “What drove you to Hell?”  They will reply, “We were not of those who prayed, nor did we feed the needy. We used to indulge ˹in falsehood˺ along with others, and deny the Day of Judgment, until the Certain End came upon us“

  These verses continue the themes of accountability, human choices, and the consequences of actions in the Hereafter. These verses describe the regret and confession of those who face punishment in Hellfire, highlighting their failure to fulfill their obligations to Allah and their preoccupation with worldly life.
  
      Individual Accountability: Every soul is responsible for its own actions and will face the consequences in the Hereafter.
  
      Contrast Between Righteous and Criminals: The righteous will enjoy Paradise, while the criminals will suffer in Hellfire.
  
      Confession of Sins: The criminals will admit their neglect of prayer, failure to help the poor, indulgence in sin, and denial of the Day of Judgment.
  
      Inevitability of the Hereafter: Death and the Day of Judgment are certain, and by the time they arrive, it is too late to change one’s fate.
  
  
  These verses are not limited to the historical context of the Quran’s revelation; they have universal relevance:
  
      They serve as a warning to all of humanity about the consequences of neglecting worship, failing to help others, indulging in sin, and denying the Hereafter.
  
      They emphasize the importance of faith, good deeds, and preparation for the Hereafter.
  
      They remind us that death and the Day of Judgment are inevitable, and we must strive to live righteous lives before it is too late.
