DAY 263: Hud 50-60

•  And to the people of ’Âd We sent their brother Hûd. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah. You have no god other than Him. You do nothing but fabricate lies ˹against Allah˺. O  my people! I do not ask you for any reward for this ˹message˺. My reward is only from the One Who created me. Will you not then understand? And O  my people! Seek your Lord’s forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance. He will shower you with rain in abundance, and add strength to your strength. So do not turn away, persisting in wickedness.” They argued, “O Hûd! You have not given us any clear proof, and we will never abandon our gods upon your word, nor will we believe in you. All we can say is that some of our gods have possessed you with evil.” He said, “I call Allah to witness, and you too bear witness, that I ˹totally˺ reject whatever you associate with Him ˹in worship˺. So let all of you plot against me without delay! I have put my trust in Allah—my Lord and your Lord. There is no living creature that is not completely under His control. Surely my Lord’s Way is perfect justice. But if you turn away, I have already delivered to you what I have been sent with. My Lord will replace you with others. You are not harming Him in the least. Indeed, my Lord is a ˹vigilant˺ Keeper over all things.” When Our command came, We rescued Hûd and those who believed with him by a mercy from Us, saving them from a harsh torment. That was ’Âd. They denied the signs of their Lord, disobeyed His messengers, and followed the command of every stubborn tyrant. They were followed by a curse in this world, as they will be on the Day of Judgment. Surely ’Âd denied their Lord. So away with ’Âd, the people of Hûd.

  Allah declares that the purpose of creation is to provide a stage for us to unlock and manifest the potentials He gave us. He then sends the Quran as the ultimate guidebook on how to actualize that potential successfully. However, human history shows that most people, intoxicated by their own arrogance, will reject this guidance, demanding spectacular miracles instead of heeding the profound wisdom in front of them. To these deniers, Allah's response is not to indulge their demands, but to point to the ultimate proof: history itself. He gave past nations like 'Ad and Thamud immense wealth and power, but they "wasted it by being arrogant." Their story is not just a tale; it is a direct, terrifying answer to the question, "What happens to those who fail the test of life?"
      The Unchanging Message: The core of prophethood (Tawhid) remains the same from Nuh to Hud.
      Arrogance of Power: The people of 'Ad's rejection was rooted in their physical strength and civilization, leading them to dismiss the warning.
      The Defense of the Prophet: Hud, like Nuh, defends his sincerity by rejecting any material reward.
      Absolute Reliance on Allah (Tawakkul): Hud's powerful declaration in verse 56 is a model for all believers facing oppression.
      The Principle of Replacement: No nation is irreplaceable in Allah's plan. Denial leads to annihilation and replacement.
      The Pattern Continues: The story serves as another clear example of the consequences of denying a prophet, reinforcing the warning to humanity.
   
      Allah gives you life to reveal your potential, provides the Quran as your guide, and points to the ruins of arrogant past nations as the ultimate warning of what happens when you reject that guidance for worldly power.
